The Miniflotor is a small but powerful air driven inside protein skimmer designed for aquariums upto 200 litres. Its characteristics are the two concentric reaction tubes. In the inner tube, the air bubbles rise and take a lot of water with them. This water falls down in the outer tube and takes lots of air bubble with it - down to the expansion cone. Here the bubbles turn and rise up again - through the counter current. This ensures a long reaction time of the bubbles in the water and an effective skimming. Included is a strong holding plate for fixing the unit at the aquarium frame and a lime wood air stone.

Air Driven Internal Protein Skimmer The Midiflotor is a small but powerful air-driven internal protein skimmers designed for aquariums upto 400 litres. It's principal operating feature is the double reaction system. Within the inner cylinder, air bubbles rise and carry large quantities of water upward. This water then falls into the outer cylinder and carries the bubbles downward to the expansion cone, where the bubbles are stopped. They then rise against the strong counter-current and carry waste products to the foam collection cup. This process ensures a long contact time and extraordinary efficiency for skimmers of these diminutive sizes. Both the Miniflotor and Midiflotor include strong holding plates that hold securely yet allow easy vertical movement of the skimmer body to regulate their foam production zone. The Turboflotor 750 is a compact, motor driven inside protein skimmer. It is supplied with a big volume prefilter for mechanical filtration. The venturi pump, 10 Watt, with needle wheel, sucks the air in automatically mixes it with the water and pushes the mixture into the reaction pipe (75 mm, 3 inch diameter). The pipe has an expansion cone with postfilter at ist bottom end. The foam cup is conical shaped to improve the ejection of foam. Used for years in America, this is the No. 1 sump installed skimmer for all saltwater aquariums up to 500 gal The T. 1000 classic uses the same patented Needle Wheel technology as the whole Aqua Medic Turboflotor skimmer family. The Needle Wheel rotates at 3.600 rpm in the pump housing, the air/water mixture is heavily agitated and the air bubbles are cut into micro bubbles for optimum skimming efficiency. The Needle Wheel pump draws water directly from the skimmer, mixes it with air and drives the mixture back into the skimmer. A great advantage of the skimmer is its aquarium water supply. Water flows directly to the skimmer as a bypass (approx. 250 gph) from the overflow of the aquarium, without the need for a pump. In this way, the flow rate can be easily adjusted with a valve. This means the whole power of the Needle Wheel pump is used to inject air. This water flow creates an extremely high turbulence in the lower part of the skimmer and ensures that a very high quantity of air (approx. 50 g.p.h) is injected. The upper part of the skimmer stays calm and leaves enough time for the bubbles to react with the organic wastes and form a stable dry foam, that is pushed into the conical shaped foam cup. Dimensions: The height of the skimmer is only 21 inches, so it will fit into the sump in most standard cabinets. Pump: the skimmer is designed to be used with the Rio 2100 power head pump. Why is the Needle Wheel superior to bladed impellers for air water mixture? In contrast to bladed impellers, the Needle Wheel does not cause noise problems or cavitation. Bladed impellers are very good for pumping water, but are not designed to pump an air/water mixtures. They create a pressure drop at the blade tip that creates supersaturation with nitrogen gas. This process is called cavitation and it may cause gas embolisms (gas bubble disease) in fish.

The skimmers of the series 5.000 have been developed for bigger aquariums. Like the smaller models, they are supplied with venturi pumps that include a needle wheel for mixing air and water. The reaction pipe has a diameter of 200 mm (8 inches). The foam cup is conical shaped, to improve the foam production. The design of inlet and outlet ensure a long retention time of the bubbles in the skimmer. A separate pump with a capacity between 2 and 4.000 l/std (500 - 1.000 gph) is needed to supply the skimmer with water.
