Even the most carefully screened aquarium will from time to time end up with a few hitchhikers that can become a pest. These may be large bristle worms, crabs or mantis shrimps. A number of methods over the years have been suggested over the years to remove these with varying degrees of success. The Trapest allows the baiting of a clear trap that encourages nuisance critters to enter. The unique curtain design allows the critters to walk through but not escape. It is often very difficult to catch an individual fish, especially in aquariums with a lot of rocky decoration such as reef tanks or aquariums for African chichlids without completely destroying the decorative aquascape. Fish trap is baited with some food and as soon as the desired fish has entered the trap the closing mechanism is simply released –by hand. The trap is constructed in such a way that it can be removed from the aquarium with the fish inside without it draining completely, indeed it remains half full. This method considerably reduces the stress on the fish.
